My Vegan Citricidal Dandruff Removal

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

I’ve always suffered from a bit of dandruff. It’s not like I have great swathes of hair snow adorning my shoulders, but I have a bit of dandruff and I’d rather I didn’t. I’ve tried various anti-dandruff shampoos and some of them work OK, but it’s difficult to find ones that I can be absolutely certain are vegan. Head and Shoulders doesn’t explicitly state whether or not it’s tested on animals and I’ll be damned if I can look up every single ingredient in each brand I try.

So imagine my surprise when I discovered the wonders of Citricidal Liquid. Primarily consisting of Grapefruit Seed Extract, it’s used for a great many applications. It can be taken internally for certain digestive conditions, colds and flus, parasitic diseases and allergies. It essentially works as a disinfectant and so can also be used for cleansing nails, ears, throats, noses, toothbrushes, chopping boards and yes: itchy scalps.

All you have to do is mix in 5-15 drops of Citricidal Liquid to each shampoo, either in the hand or on the head. Massage it into the scalp and leave for 2 minutes before rinsing off.

Why am I so pleased with it? Other than it’s multitude of uses, it’s a vegan product. Citricidal Liquid is a combination of Grapefruit Seed Extract and a few others ingredients (it can be highly acidic by itself), but certainly all of the ingredients in the Higher Nature citricidal products are vegan.

So I’ve finally found a product I can use on my head without worrying about the vegan consequences. And it cleans my toothbrush.

Ecologically sound removals

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Moving house or offices can be a very stressful experience. No matter how long you’ve been there, you will likely find yourself presented with a seemingly insurmountable level of waste. This is particularly true if you find yourself taking the opportunity to clear out all the stuff that you never got round to clearing out (and what better time?)

If you leave it too close to the last minute, you’ll probably find yourself not distinguishing anymore between what can be recycled and what can’t, what can be donated to charity and what can’t, and just end up giving up and chucking everything into a bin bag or a skip.

That’s where a removals company such as the Brighton Removals Company can help. They do everything that a normal removals company will do: take your stuff and put it somewhere else, or clear a property entirely; but they do things in as ecologically sound a way as possible. As the name suggests they are based in Brighton, which is why I’m writing about them, but they do removals across the whole of Sussex and are also able to provide international household removals if you’re going overseas.

When they do a removal, they clear out everything in the property as required and make sure that all recyclable waste is taken to be recycled rather than just dumped, and use recycled boxes for moving. So not only do you get a big helping hand with moving all of your property and clearing your waste but you can have a sound conscience whilst doing so as well.

As I said, moving can be a very stressful time, and one where you are likely to forget about making sure you recycle your waste and use recycled boxes as you concentrate on just getting out on time – so it’s nice to know there’s a removals company out there who is thinking about it for you.
